Session Types

Newborn Studio

Newborn sessions typically take 2-4 hours at our studio. With newborns we recommend having the shoot before they turn 2 weeks old when they start to change quickly.

The Process

Oftentimes we find our clients aren't sure how it all works and what goes into a professional photo shoot. We start by having a consultation with you to get an idea as to what you want to get out of the session. From that discussion we will determine scheduling, wardrobe, location, and talk about any prep you will need to do. We'll also answer any questions you may have. And we will touch on what kinds of print options are available to you.

The Timeline

The timeline to getting you your finished photographs has five parts. The initial consultation, the photography session, the post production, the review session, and lastly printing. From start to finish the process can be as short as two weeks or as long as 3-4 months. The average however is around 8 1/2 weeks.

Initial Consultation: This is where we discuss what kind of session you are looking for and book your date (if outdoor we may pencil in a backup as well). During the off season we normally will have your session sometime in the two weeks after the consultation. During peak times though it maybe 6-8 weeks before we can schedule you.

Photography Session: The day has arrived for us to take your photographs. The length of the session will depend on the type of session, what you're looking to get from it, and other factors all of which will have been discussed at the initial consultation. Most session last from 1 1/2 hours to 3 1/2 hours.

Post Production: This is typically the hardest part for our clients. Its all about waiting while we go over all the shots, do any basic retouching, create the online gallery for you to see your photos, as well as creating your custom app. Thats right every client gets a custom app for your iOS or android phone showing your photos. Normally this takes us around 2-4 weeks.

Review Session: The review session is when one of our staff sits down with you either in person (preferred) or virtually to go over all of the photos and decide what you want to do with them. Do you want prints of certain ones, prints of all of them, a photo book, etc. This is also when we'll discuss if you want any more extensive retouching.

Printing: Printing is when the professional labs that we work with actually print the photographs, books, or other items. For most products it takes around 1-2 weeks to print and then another week to ship making this part of the process around 2-3 weeks.

If you're soooo impatient there are parts of the process that may be able to be sped up, but will most likely incur additional costs. ex. shipping from the printer.

Also please, please, please realize that the timeline is heavily affected by how busy the staff is. There are certain times of year, and not just before the holidays, where we're busier than average and we simply don't have the resources to handle every client as fast as we'd like. We appreciate your understanding with this.
